Date: Monday, April 23, 2018 11:29:29 AM V: APR 2 To whom this may concern, My name is Kris Burmeister. I am opposed to bill no. 108. I am a vendor for Hawaiilife realty. I started working this company Sept of 2017. I want share how vacation rentals on Hawaii island have helped me support my family. I am a single parent. USMC vet with 50% disability. This job offers me a decent wage and allows for a flexible schedule. Honestly this is some of the best wages I have ever made. At $45-55 an hour, this money I use to buy groceries, make vehicle payments, clothes for my kids, electric bills and other basic needs. I hear people talk as if none of the money from vacation rentals stay in Hawaii but it's simply not true. These people don't mention the contractors, electricians, plumbers, handyman, house cleaners and property managers that live and pay taxes right here in this community. By over regulating vacation rentals, you are putting jobs at risk. Jobs that help people provide for their families. Local :families! ! ! People with children! ! ! I ask you to let people decide how they want to manage their properties. They pay the property taxes let them choose. Really what this whole thing is about is the hotel industry trying to wage war on home owners. They see every vacation rental as competition. Please realize that. In closing, there is a lot work that goes into preparing houses for guests. I have a need for more help to maintain all of the homes we manage. I'm currently looking for at least three more people to assist me. Jobs that pay anywhere from $15-25 an hour. Please help keep this market alive and thriving. Aloha!
