Dear members of the Committee on Planning,
Please support home sharing on the big island. I would have lost my house when my husband
passed away in 2013 if I wasn't able to do a vacation rental in my home. It allowed me to stay
in my house along with my 15 year old son and provide a stable home for him. All Hawaii
residents should be able to choose if they want to do ;short term rentals or not. Possibly if the
state had more favorable long term rental laws that support the owners more people would do
long term rentals. Me personally I would never because I can't afford to take the chance of
getting a long term renter who stops paying their rent that then requires court dates and
attorneys to get them out. I support Airbnb and their fight with the state of Hawaii.
