Subject: Home sharing is important to me

Dear members of the Committee on Planning,
The positive impact home sharing across the state is clear. According to the Hawaii Tourism
Authority, it generates more than $5.1 billion in economic impact for the state and is
responsible for 34,000 jobs while allowing local residents to generate extra revenue to help
deal with the high cost of living. We personally pay thousands of dollars in TAT and GET
every year in addition to our higher property tax to support Hawai Island. Let the vacation
rental sites collect the tax so everyone pays and allow an easy way to legitimize these
entrepreneurs ! !
