For the 15 years that we have owned the house there have always been a number of 99ohana" units in the neighborhood that have been rented out as vacation rentals. There has never been a problem, with these because the owners are right there and keep everything under control. In the last few years, however, many of the homes around us that have been sold have been turned into vacation rentals, with the owners living on the mainland. There are at least 10 of these within a couple blocks of our home. One such owner has 6 of these vacation rentals, and the one that they own behind us is listed as 5 bedrooms, sleeps 18. You can imagine the kinds of groups they get in there, and there is no one to control them. Kids jumping in the pool all day, yelling and screaming as loud as they want, and adults out on the lanai partying until all hours of the night. Many neighbors, as well as ourselves, have tried asking them to quiet down, sometimes at 11 PM or later, but they cannot even hear us, let alone do what we request. The police have been called a number of times, but there is not much they can do other than ask them to quiet down. I feel it is not right that someone with a lot of money to invest in these houses and who knows and cares nothing about the neighborhood is causing us to seriously consider selling the home that we have loved living in for so long. Thank you for your attention to this matter. Aloha, Beverly Novak -Page 77-6455 Leilani Street Kailua-Kona, HI 96740 808-315-7048 Comm. No. Ref, To: LL Ref, tate 4 2 4 2
