Sako, via Communication No. 888 dated April 6, 2018, authorizes the payment of funds of a later fiscal year and of more than one fiscal year for a multi-year lease of real property for the County of Hawai`i Fire Department. This resolution authorizes the Mayor to enter into a new five-year agreement with an option for an additional five years with Kaneshiro & Sons Enterprise, Limited and Glenn Kaneshiro Partnership, to allow for the continued occupancy of warehouse space located at 1990 Kino`ole Street, Hilo, with an approximate monthly cost of$4,958. Hamana Ventura, Property Manager, gave a brief description of Resolution No. 590-18 and stated that the County is requesting to extend its lease of the warehouse for another five years at the current rate. Council Member Susan Lee Loy questioned about the types of items being stored in the warehouse, to which Mr. Ventura responded that it was initially leased so that the Fire Department would have adequate storage during renovations at the central fire station and will continue to utilize the storage space for items such as equipment, beds, and any items related to fire. She spoke in support of the resolution, however, she hopes that the need for storage space can be reduced in the future. Council Member Herbert "Tim" Richards inquired about the size of the leased space, of which Mr. Ventura responded that it is approximately 5,500 square feet. Mr. Richards also asked if this lease includes utilities, and Mr. Ventura replied that it does not. Mr. Ventura also said that the utility use is limited to when the lights are turned on and off, when items for storage are being dropped off Your Committee on Finance is in accord with the purpose and intent of Resolution No. 590-18, and recommends its adoption. dmm AYES NOES ABS EX Respectfully submitted, CHUNG X DAVID X COMMITTEE ON FINANCE EOFF X KANUHA X P AMP ap LEE LOY X ' i O'HARA X POINDEXTER x MAILE DAVID, CHAIR RICHARDS X FC REPORT NO.: 111 RUGGLES X ADOPTED: MAY _g 9 201s
