Dear Chairwoman Poindexter and Council Members:
It is my pleasure to nominate Justin Pequeno of Council District 2 to the Environmental
Management Commission. Mr. Pequeno is currently employed as a Project Manager
for the Kamehameha Schools. Prior to joining the Kamehameha Schools, Mr. Pequeno
worked as a Program Manager for the Honolulu Community Action Program, a non-
profit agency on Oahu that provides human services to the economically challenged.
Mr. Pequeno is a graduate of Tufts University with a BS in Psychology and American
Studies and from Columbia University in the City of New York with an MA in Politics and
Education.
Originally from Texas, Mr. Pequeno has lived in Hawai'i for approximately 5 years and is
an active member of the Hawai'i Island Chamber of Commerce, the South Hilo Rotary
Club, and the Hawaii Leeward Planning Conference. He states he is a member of the
Democrat party. If confirmed, he will serve an unfilled term ending December 31, 2020.
