SUBJECT: Transmitting Bill No. 108, Draft 2; an Ordinance Amending Chapter 25, Article
1, Article 2, Article 4, and Article 5, of the Hawaii County Code 1983 (2016
Edition, as Amended), Relating to Short-Term Vacation Rentals.
Attached please find Bill No. 108, Draft 2.
During its meeting on May 8, 2018, the Council's Planning Committee amended Communication
No. 739.78 by deleting language from a new proposed definition of the term"Reachable." The
amendment, contained in SECTION 3 of Bill No, 108, is illustrated below using Ramseyer
formatting. In this illustration, the deleted language is bracketed and stricken.
"Reachable"means being able to answer the telephone at all times, being able to be
physically present at the short-term vacation rentalwithin one hour following a
request by a guest, a neighbor, or a County agency[, • •. '•. . : - :
residence within thirty driving miles]."
The Planning Committee subsequently amended Bill No. 108 with the contents of
Communication No. 739.78, as amended. Attached please find the Draft 2 of Bill No. 108 that
resulted from the Planning Committee's actions.
