RESOLUTION NO.: 613 18
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF A MONETARY
DONATION OF.$7,60O:TO THE DEPARTMENT OF PARKS AND
RECREATION
WHEREAS, the Lili`uokalani Trust is donating $7,600 to the Department of
Parks and Recreation; and
WHEREAS, these funds will be used to for the Ike Kai Summer Program and
Ike Kai After School Program. These programs provide children with experiences in
Hawaiian cultural practices of ancient Hawaiian wayfinding through STEM learning
tools and techniques; and
WHEREAS, Article XIII, Section 13-12, of.the Hawaii County Charter provides
that the Council,on behalf of the County, may accept gifts of donations of money,
securities or other personal property or of-real estate or any interest in real estate,
and Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162(a) of the Hawaii County Code states that
any gifts or donations of money, securities, or personal property which fall within the
capitalization procedures of the. Department of Finance, may be accepted by
Resolution approved by the Council; and.
WHEREAS, the Hawaii County Department of Finance has requested that
cash donations of any amount be recorded and accepted through the formal
Resolution process; and
WHEREAS,.the Department of Parks and.Recreation recommends the
acceptance of this donation;.now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that in
accordance with Article XIII; Section 13-12, of the Hawaii County Charter, and
Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162(a) of the Hawaii County Code, the Council of the
County of Hawaii accepts this donation.
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that a letter of appreciation and a copy of this
resolution be sent to the Lili`uokalani Trust, do Thomas K. Kaulukukui, Jr., Patrick
K.S.L. Yim and Clair L. Asam, Trustees, 1100 Alakea Street, Suite 1100, Honolulu,
Hawaii 96813 and that a copy of this resolution be sent to the Department of Parks
and Recreation, the Department.of Finance and the Office of the Mayor to
acknowledge this generous donation.
