Your Committee on Planning, to which was referred Communication No. 907, reports as
follows:
Communication No. 907, transmitted by Mayor Harry Kim, dated April 20, 2018, nominates
Frances Brewer to the Hawai`i County Puna Community Development Plan Action Committee.
Rose Bautista, Executive Assistant to Mayor Kim, introduced Ms. Brewer who appeared in
person. Ms. Brewer has been a resident of Hawai`i for 14 years and states that she is not a
member of any political party. If confirmed, she will serve a term to expire on December 31,
2021.
Several Council Members commented in favor of Ms. Brewer. The vote was then taken with all
Council Members voting."aye." Chair Eoff stated that Ms. Brewer did not need to appear at the
next Council meeting for confirmation of her appointment.
Pursuant to Article 3, Section 16-5 of the Hawai`i County Code, the Community Development
Plan Action Committees shall consist of nine members, and shall be appointed by the Mayor and
approved by the Council.
Your Committee on Planning is in accord with the purpose and intent of Communication
No. 907, and recommends confirmation of the appointment of Frances Brewer to the Hawai`i
County Puna Community Development Plan Action Committee.
