Dear Congresswoman Mink:
The Nanawale Community Association sponsors an active and
effective Neighborhood Watch and NeSZ}hborhaod Patrol,
staffed by volunteers in the neighborh.vod.
Recently we have been getting complaints that when the
police are needed, it can take. up to several hours far an
officer to respond. Formerly, our community could count oru
a response almost immediately.
It has been brought to our attention that police officers
specifically asaigned to community policing and paid far by
Federal grant money, are being sent elsewhere to fill in
far officer shortages.
we desperately need more active police officers in the Puna
District. We would appreciate it if you would lank inter
the situation and determine if community policing officers
are fairly asaigned, and if the Federal funds are being
used in the spirit in which they were intended.
