Re: Resolution for multi-year agreement
The Department of Public Works currently rents parking and storage space for its facility
in Kealakekua. The Department seeks to enter into a multi-year lease starting on August
1, 2018 and ending on April 30, 2020 with the option to renew the lease for two
additional five-year terms.
Enclosed is a resolution authorizing the County to enter into a multi-year lease agreement
as described above with the Estate of Ole Eigel Jensen and Elaine Marie Jensen for
parking and storage space located at 81-6394 Hawai`i Belt Road in Kealakekua. This
property, identified by Tax Map Key (3) 8-1-016-039 will continue to be utilized by the
Department's Traffic Division in Kealakekua.

A. REQUEST:
Prepare County Council submittal authorizing the County of Hawaii Public Works Department to enter into a
Lease Agreement for a multi-year term for lease of space used by the Traffic Division in Kealakekua.
B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
The County of Hawaii Public Works Department currently leases parking and storage space at 81-6394
Hawaii Belt Road in Kealakekua. The current lease expires on July 31, 2018 and the Department desires to
extend the lease for a longer term to coincide with their neighboring office and warehouse lease which will
expire on April 30, 2020. The new lease will be for the period from August 1, 2018 to April 30, 2020 and
include an option to renew the lease for two (2) additional five (5) year terms. .
