Bill No. 110, Draft 2: Proposed Operating Budget for Fiscal Year 2018 -
2019

Aloha,
This testimony is in reference to the amendment to Bill 110 with reference to the
reduction of the Research and Development Department of $100,000 with specific
reference to the $55,000 reduction to the tourism marketing line item.
Although I am against any farther reduction to the existing tourism marketing budget
and prefer that this be reconsidered especially with our current drop off in travel to the
island due to the recent volcanic activity, I do agree that there be consideration for all
areas to be funded appropriately.
Please consider funding all requests to the amounts proposed in the original budget.
Additional revenue sources should be considered to make this happen.
