As the school librarian at Na' alehu Elementary School, I strongly oppose the construction of a
sewage treatment plant adjacent to the school. The prevalent tradewinds would engulf the
school with an obnoxious odor. All of the classrooms closest to the proposed settling ponds
have no air conditioning and depend on the breeze for coolness. Only the new wing that is
farthest away has air conditioning that might spare those four classrooms from the smell.
Please reject the plan to build a waste water treatment plant next to Na'alehu School and spare
our 400 students and about 70 staff members from being sickened from the smell.
