HomeMy WebLinkAboutCOM 0941.003 2016-2018I am in favor of the amendments to Bill 154 because it FINALLY includes allowing
abandoned vehicles to be removed from private roads, like Ocean View. Ocean View
has become a dumping ground for AV. The vehicle I write about below is STILL
sitting on the roadway less than one block from my house. One month has already
gone by. It is a miracle that the AV has not been torched as that creates another
health and safety issue.
We have a BIG SAFETY issue in HOVE (Hawaiian Ocean View Estates) and it is
NOT being addressed in a timely manner. The issue is Abandoned Vehicles (AV) that
sit on or near the roadway. On 4-12-18, 1 called the non -emergency police telephone
line to report an AV close to my home. An officer came out, made his report and the
report was sent to Environmental Management on 4-17-18. 1 called them to confirm
that EM had the report (which they did.) However, Tiffany from the EM office informed
me that they were no longer towing vehicles from private roads.
This is wrong! Our roads are privately funded but they are open to the public and the
police. We pay the fee when registering our vehicles that goes into the Vehicle
Disposal Fund. It currently has over three million dollars in it for this purpose. The
vehicle I reported is still sitting encroaching on the roadway creating a safety issue.
We are grateful it has not been torched as that would be an additional issue for the
environment.
The abandoned vehicles are piling up and this is NOT acceptable.
Thank you for your time and attention to this matter.
