Re: Acceptance of Donation
In accordance with (1) Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawaii County Charter, which
provides that the Council,-on behalf of the County, may accept gifts of donations of
money, securities or other personal property or of real estate or any interest in real estate,
and with (2) Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162 (b), of the Hawai`i County Code, which
states that a gift or donation of money, securities, or personal property not covered by the
capitalization procedures (of the Department of Finance) shall be submitted to the
Council by letter for its approval, we request the Council's approval of the following
donation:
Various furnishings,with a total estimated value of$875, donated by West Point
Investments, aka Hapuna Prince Hotel, 62-100 Kauna`oa Drive, Kamuela, Hawaii
96743. These furnishings will be used by various P&R Divisions at various facilities.
We ask that a letter of appreciation be sent to the donor at the address indicated above. If
there are any questions, please do not hesitate to call Reid Sewake of the Department of
Parks and Recreation at 961-8560.

These miscellaneous office furniture will be used by various P&R Divisions at various facilities.
B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
Council action is being requested to accept and acknowledge a donation of aforementioned miscellaneous
office furniture from West Point Investments (aka Hapuna Prince Hotel) to be used by various P&R Divisions
at various facilities. The tables and chairs are valued at $875.00.

RE: Communication No. 960 : Letter of Acceptance of various furnishings
donated by West Point Investments, aka Hapuna Prince Hotel, to the Parks & Recreation
Divisions.
Pursuant to Section 2(g) of Rule 4 of the Rules of Procedure of the Council of the County of
Hawai`i, this written request is submitted with my approval that the above-referenced matter be
waived from the Committee on Finance to the full Council for immediate action. In reviewing
this matter, timely approval is crucial. It is•therefore advantageous that approval is granted and
the matter be placed onto the next Council agenda for review. However, in the event this request
is denied, for whatever reason, I understand the matter shall be referred to the Committee on
Finance for placement on its future agenda.
