COUNTY OF HAWAII •_ �'- �� STATE OF HAWAII <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 630 1.8 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE FUNDS TO THE DEPARTMENT OF <br /> RESEARCH AND DEVELOPMENT FOR AN INTERGOVERNMENTAL COST- <br /> SHARE AGREEMENT FOR THE WAIMEA-KOHALA AIRPORT. <br /> WHEREAS, the Department of Research and Development provides leadership for <br /> public and private development programs, enterprises, and plans, including economic, social, and <br /> cultural proposals that enhance and improve the community; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Waimea-Kohala Airport is located fewer than 40 miles from a small- <br /> hub airport and has been receiving subsidized air service through the United States Department <br /> of Transportation's Essential Air Service program; and <br /> WHEREAS, in order for the United States Department of Transportation to enter into a <br /> new contract to continue subsidizing air service to the community, an intergovernmental cost- <br /> share agreement between the County of Hawai`i, United States Department of Transportation, <br /> and Mokulele Flight Service, Inc., (Mokulele Airlines) is required; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Department of Research and Development is requesting funds so that <br /> the County of Hawai`i can enter into a negotiated cost-share agreement with the United States <br /> Department of Transportation and Mokulele Flight Service, Inc., to continue the Essential Air <br /> Service subsidy for the Waimea-Kohala Airport; and <br /> WHEREAS, a small portion of the County's contribution to the cost-share agreement <br /> will be contributed by community members; now, therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 9 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Research and Development for an intergovernmental cost-share agreement to continue the <br /> Essential Air Service subsidy for the Waimea-Kohala Airport. <br /> BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby <br /> transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: <br />
