Hi
As an addendum to my Testimony below, I believe efforts should continue to increase the TAT allocations to the
Island to the original percentages.
Thanks

I have read that with the increasing costs incurred by County government due to Kilauea, there is some
consideration to property tax increases.

I believe only as a LAST RESORT should property taxes be raised on full time residents. As we know, an increase
in property taxes for full time residents would have an impact on a large number of families, especially those with
lower incomes.
Some other areas where property taxes could be increased are the following:
- Increase the property tax rate for those who have second homes on Hawaii's Island and who are not full time
residents of the Island
- Increase the tax rate on vacation property rentals
- Increase resort and hotel property taxes. The U.S. economy is doing very well. I believe there would not be an
decrease in tourism if hotel/resort fees need to be raised. Guests to our Island know and are willing to pay higher
room costs.
- If needed, increase the tax rate on those property owners only paying the minimum property tax rate
