OTHER BUSINESS Comm. 958.6: BILL 159, DRAFT 2: REQUEST FOR RECONSIDERATION From Council Member Eileen O'Hara, dated June 21, 2018, requesting Bill 159, Draft 2, be reconsidered pursuant to Council Rule No. 15. ;and Bill 159 AMENDS CHAPTER 2 OF THE HAWAII COUNTY CODE 1983 (Draft 2): (2016 EDITION, AS AMENDED) BY ADDING A NEW ARTICLE RELATING TO TRANSPORTATION SURCHARGE AND CREATING THE GENERAL EXCISE TAX FUND Establishes a one-quarter (.25) percent general excise and use tax surcharge to fund operating or capital costs of public transportation systems within Hawaii County, to be levied beginning January 1, 2019, with a repeal date of December 31, 2020, unless otherwise extended by ordinance, provided that such General Excise and Use Tax surcharge shall not extend beyond December 31, 2030. The email shall indicate the appropriate Committee or Council meeting, the meeting date, agenda item (communication, bill, resolution or report number), and number of testifiers on the video submittal.
