Dear Chair Poindexter and Council Members:
It is my pleasure to nominate Benjamine Heloca of Council District 8 to the Cultural
Resources Commission.
Mr. Heloca currently works as a Court Bailiff with the State of Hawai'i Judiciary and is
also a Hawaiian cultural practitioner. He is actively involved with numerous community
and Hawaiian organizations including as Board of Director with the Ahu'ena Heiau at
the King Kamehameha Kona Beach Hotel, a member of the Kealakowa'a Heiau
Preservation Council, the Royal Order of Kamehameha and an instructor of Haleo
Hawaiian Language with the University of the Nations.
A lifelong resident of Hawai'i, Mr. Heloca is not a member of any political party. If
confirmed, he will serve an unfilled term ending December 31, 2019 and will qualify to
apply for re-nomination to a full, five-year term.
