Funds will be used to purchase equipment that will allow police officers to have access to state-wide offender information and to transition to a standardized bar code system to track evidence. Enclosed is a resolution to enter into an agreement to accept these funds. Also enclosed is a bill for an ordinance amending the Operating Budget by appropriating this $48,590 grant. The Police Department requests that this resolution and bill be waived from the Finance Committee and be placed on the July 25, 2018 Council Agenda in order to expedite the receipt of these funds. REQUEST: This is a request to appropriate funds for an MOA with the Hawaii Criminal Justice Data Center, Department of the Attorney General, State of Hawaii (hereinafter"HCJDC") for the purpose of purchasing equipment (servers, scanners, label printers and printer supplies) that will assist officers in the following: 1. Increase officers safety by having access to statewide offender information in a timely manner. 2. Multiple payments may be included on a single Bill for Collection. Note: Request that this request be waived from Finance Committee and placed on the next council agenda as deadline for the expendature of these funds is September 30, 2018.
