HomeMy WebLinkAboutCOM 0739.149 2016-2018Dear Committee on Planning Hawaii County, Overall, I am against this bill. My family and I have been in the vacation rental business since 2004. Our economy is hurting on the big island already do to this major lava disaster & vog. Tourists are scared to come to the island and tourism has dropped dramatically which in turn has hurt our local businesses (restaurants, shops, cleaners, etc) and the people who work there. I don't think it would be wise to put in'restrictions while tourism is down and make it even harder and less attractive for tourists- to come to our special island. Regarding the Bill, I think it's important to recognize there are a lot of residential uses in the AG zonings which are currently doing vacation rentals and have been for a very long time, to consider them in the grandfathering vacation rental process. Another point, is to be more specific in details of the Bill, such as quantifying noise and other details that will be enforced by the County. To avoid issues and confusion. Mahalo for your time.
