Dear Committee on Planning Hawaii County,
my Airbnb has paid all the required taxes since I started. Please remove the additional 500.00
Renewal fee to renew yearly. This extra cost Permits financial hardship on top of Vat and ge
taxes not to mention income tax. My Airbnb houses people from all around the world, Coming
here excited to stay on my coffee farm. The people that I I have, always enjoy being able to
share an experience with a local person. I share my fruit trees, Kona coffee, I share my
storiesand and that of Hawaii with them in a way that they can't get staying in, a hotel. I am a
responsible host . Plenty parking... peace and quiet for all sharing property. Having an Airbnb
allows me to interact with people where normally I am very isolated since widowed. It allows
me to pay my two mortgages. I am a rooted and grounded member of the community,
volunteering here in the community doing ultrasounds for the pregnancy center once a week as
a trained nurse/sonography. I have lived here going on thirty years. The local restaurants enjoy
the extra business up here in Kealakekua along with all the vendors. It's a healthy
environment. It gives me a peace of mind that I will be able to continue hosting here on my
coffee farm. Many people who come say if it weren't'for places like this they can visit they
wouldn't bother coming to Hawaii. To me, that's a heartbreaking statement for we have much
to offer. This Airbnb experience has been very uplifting and encouraging at this time in my
