Dear Council Members,
Once again, thank you for addressing this important issue. I have had a large, very problematic vacation rental near
me for years. I have lived here full time for almost 35 years and simply wanted to do so in peace and quiet and hold
hope this bill will help with that.
In addition to the noise issue, I would like to address the fees associated with short term rental and ask that in future
hearings you don't deny owners that weren't previously renting from doing so in a residential neighborhood. The
vog is leaving me with the very unfortunate possibility that I may have to be at least part time on the mainland. I
find that renting short term at some point may be a financial necessity. I see it as a way to afford to be able to come
back for my work and yet not be here full time with the negative affect on my heath. I am probably not the only one
in this situation.
My suggestion is that maybe you could have more affordable fees for smaller rentals rented less often. I have a
home that would probably sleep 2 adults and a child comfortably. Seems a little unfair that I would pay the same as
the large (noisy) house nearby that is for rent all year and probably sleeps 12. Maybe something based on actual
income like GET or sliding scale with more increments.
