I am writing a letter in response TO BILL 108 To the attention of the THE HAWAII
COUNTY PLANNING COMMITTEE.
I have an Airbnb in Kamuela, Hawaii on the Big Island. Last year my husband and I had
health issues and the income from Airbnb helps pay our mortgage. I have the next few Airbnb
guests coming to work in the hospital for 6 week contracts and a scientist doing research in
Hawaii. I offer a valuable service for these professionals. I pay 13.5% tax on all guests. This
should help Hawaii's economy.
I know Airbnb hosts rent for different reasons but mine is clear: helps pay mortgage.
