HomeMy WebLinkAboutCOM 0739.209 2016-2018GO, '° R. CON Y. OF 18 JUL to ta-9: U3 P I feel very sad for the people in Kapoho and Leilani Estates that they lost their homes, but from the get go they new what they were getting into, when you build on a live volcano and a very recent flow what dop think is going to happen? Many of those home owners had no permits, built their home and the county did not get 5 cents of those homes because they are illegal, Vacation homes being rented out, did we get any revenue?? Now you are proposing a increase in GET Taxes to off set the lost of revenue, that is wrong, you think you got homeless problems now, well get ready for more. These small business who employ 3-4 employees are going to pay .75 on every 100.00 they make, they already pay .50 on every 100.,00 they make. Then to top it off our governor is saying he wants to increase minumn wage to $15.00 plus benefits. Do you think the heart of America small business are going to stay in business?????? I manage 32 employees, when I need to balance my budget I don't increase my prices, I look for ways to cut my budget, labor, expense, etc. Our County looks for revenue from the tax payers, how disgraceful is that. Who keeps tabs on their spending, when it takes 5 employees to do the same types of jobs as regular business only using 3 employees, what's wrong with this scenario. I drive around and I see County employees, sleeping in trucks I listen to what they are telling their friends about the job, and how they hide till its time to come down to the base yard. What about this one, they drive 1 mile back (with the grass cutter) to the base yard to have lunch , what- ever happen to packing your lunch with you and eating where you at. Our Mayor needs to look at his budget. He needs to get all his dept heads take responsibility for their employees and hold them accountable. Know their union contract in and out. What are going to do when the next emergency comes up? Increase our sales taxes? We wonder why our kids are struggling to make ends meet. One last thing I have a good friend who lived in Lealani Estates he said he could not believe the time and money that is being wasted down there, and their is nothing they can do to stop this eruption.
