Subject: Re: Bill 108 plc O Dear Councilmember Eileen O'Hara, I am an Airbnb host on Hawaii Island. I urge you to make a crucial change to Bill 108, and allow for the creation of new rentals in agricultural and residential zoned lands. This bill, if adopted by the County Council, will disproportionately and negatively impact agricultural and residential zoned communities across the island that depend on the economic activity generated by vacation rentals. If Bill 108 doesn't allow new rentals, then many people in our community will not have the ability to use their home for supplemental income to help pay for an ever increasing cost of living. Prohibiting new rentals prevents me and my friends and neighbors from hosting if any of us are forced to move due to natural disasters or other reasons. Thank you for considering these important changes. I continue encouraging you to revise Bill 108 to ensure there is a balanced path forward for new rentals to operate and benefit our residents and communities.
