Re: Resolution Accepting Donation
Enclosed is a resolution accepting a monetary donation of$1,000 from the Kohala Coast
Resort Association, 68-1310 Mauna Lani Drive, #101, Waimea, Hawai`i 96743. These
funds are part of community contributions required by the U.S. Department of.
Transportation to ensure the continuity of essential air service at the Waimea-Kohala
airport, and will be administered by the Department of Research and Development.

RE: Resolution No. 643-18 : RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE
OF A MONETARY DONATION OF $1,000 TOWARDS ENSURING THE
CONTINUITY OF ESSENTIAL AIR SERVICE AT THE WAIMEA-KOHALA
AIRPORT
Pursuant to Section 2(g) of Rule 4 of the Rules of Procedure of the Council of the County of
Hawai`i, this written request is submitted with my approval that the above-referenced matter be
waived from the Committee on Finance to the full Council for immediate action. In reviewing
this matter, timely approval is crucial. It is therefore advantageous that approval is granted and
the matter be placed onto the next Council agenda for review. However, in the event this request
is denied, for whatever reason, I understand the matter shall be referred to the Committee on
Finance for placement on its future agenda.

Please prepare a resolution to accept and acknowledge a cash donation of$1,000.00 from Kohala Coast
Resort Association for the community portion of funding that is being required required by the U.S.
Department of Transportation, to ensure continuity of essential air service at the Waimea-Kohala Airport.

An ordinance to amend Ordinance 18-68. The Operating Budget for FY18-19 to appropriate above funds.
B. BACKGROUND AND JUSTIFICATION (USE ADDITIONAL SHEETS AS NEEDED):
Council action is being requested to accept and acknowledge the donation of$1,000.00 as part of the
community donations of the $19,873.00 to ensure the continuity of essential air service at the Waimea-
Kohala Airport. The $1,000.00 donation is being made by Kohala Coast Resort Association as part of the
$1,200.00 donated by the community.
