RESOLUTION NO. 644 IS
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF A MONETARY
DONATION OF $50 TOWARDS ENSURING THE CONTINUITY OF
ESSENTIAL AIR SERVICE AT THE WAIMEA-KOHALA AIRPORT
WHEREAS, Riley Smith is donating $50 towards ensuring the continuity of
essential air service at Waimea-Kohala airport; and
WHEREAS, these funds are part of community contributions required by the
U.S. Department of Transportation, and will be administered by the Department of
Research and Development; and
WHEREAS, Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawaii County Charter provides
that the Council, on behalf of the County, may accept gifts of donations of money,
securities or other personal property or of real estate or any interest in real estate,
and Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162(a) of the Hawai`i County Code states that
any gifts or donations of money, securities, or personal property which fall within the
capitalization procedures of the Department of Finance, may be accepted by
Resolution approved by the Council; and
WHEREAS, the Hawaii County Department of Finance has requested that
cash donations of any amount be recorded and accepted through the formal
Resolution process; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Research and Development recommends the
acceptance of this donation; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that in
accordance with Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawaii County Charter, and
Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162(a) of the Hawaii County Code, the Council of the
County of Hawaii accepts this donation. •
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that a letter of appreciation and a copy of this
resolution be sent to the Riley Smith, P.O. Box 6633, Kamuela, Hawaii 96743, and
that a copy of this resolution be sent to the Department of Research and
Development, the Department of Finance and the Office of the Mayor to
acknowledge this generous donation.
