Pursuant to the State's issuance of an Emergency Proclamation <br /> dated May 3, 2018 and two Supplemental Proclamations Dated May 9, 2018 and June 5, 2018, <br /> $12,000,000 was authorized to be transferred to the County of Hawai`i. These funds are to be used <br /> to provide immediate relief necessary to protect the health, safety and welfare of area residents. <br /> Enclosed is a bill for an ordinance amending the Operating Budget by appropriating this <br /> $12,000,000 grant. We are requesting that a breach be granted in order to submit this bill after the <br /> July 20, 2018 submission deadline and that this bill be waived from the Finance Committee to be <br /> placed on the August 8, 2018 Council agenda in order to ensure that these monies are available to <br /> be spent as quickly as possible.
