Aloha Council Members,
I would like to provide testimony on COM 1012,Small businesses in Volcano Villages have been
devastated with the closure of Hawaii Volcanoes National Park in addition to the lack of tours
from the cruise ships. Businesses who rely on visitors from these sources have either had to close
their doors, or cut their hours and staffing. We need to have as much help as possible to keep
businesses open.The Hawaii Volcanoes National Park, has been closed indefinitely,with no set date
to reopen their doors.This leave many of us with who depended on this revenue, hanging and
hoping!
Those businesses in Volcano Villages and Pahoa,who have been affected greatly need to have
assistance with this tax relief proposal. It would make all the difference between staying afloat or
having to close the doors to our businesses.Jack's tours, a long time business has had to close its
door and many more may follow. Don't let this happen to us!
