This Club is a very valuable asset to the community. It has provided access to sailing for people of all walks of life, ages, and class for many years. Indeed, this is the ONLY Sailing Club I have ever seen that is accessible to the lower income brackets that make up so much of our Big Island population. Nowhere else can a local kid, struggling parent, or college student afford to learn to sail, and have access to equipment and amazing teachers. Hawaiian Canoe paddling clubs will never be threatened with removal from Bayfront. Yet the ONLY sail club on this side of the island future's is in limbo right now. While not as popular as paddling, sailing is arguably a much more valuable skill for people to learn. How else did Hawaii's first settlers arrive here? Where else is the skill of sailing being preserved and taught on this island? Not many places. Please preserve Na Hoa Holomoku's location at Bayfront. It is a true gem of the Big Island Community and any change to their location would greatly impact the wonderful service they provide to the community. Thank you for your time, and hopefully support!
