Dear Chairwoman Poindexter and Council Members:
It is my pleasure to nominate Franz Weber of District 7 to the Kona Community
Development Plan Action Committee. Mr. Weber is the General Manager for UNFI
Natural Food, an organic, natural, and specialty food distributor.
As an active member of his community, Mr. Weber has served as a board member on
many non-profit organizations including PATH Hawai'i, Children's Justice Center, VASH
Hawai'i , Full Life Hawai'i, Kiwanis Club and many more. He also volunteers with the
Ironman Triathlon and has served as its communication director.
Mr. Weber is originally from Germany where he obtained his postgraduate degrees in
mathematics, physics, and law. He has lived in Hawai'i for over 25 years and is now a
US citizen.
Mr. Weber is a member of the Democratic party. If confirmed, he will serve a vacant
term to expire May 31, 2019 after which he will qualify to reapply for a full 4-year term.
