Re: Agreement with the State of Hawaii Department of Defense
Enclosed is a resolution to enter into an agreement with the State of Hawai`i Department
of Defense. This agreement is to receive $225,000 of federally-derived funds to be used
to update the volcanic risk and vulnerability assessment of the Hawaii County Multi-
Hazard Mitigation Plan. Also enclosed is a bill for an ordinance amending the Operating
Budget to appropriate these funds.
Due to the urgent need to utilize these funds, the Department of Research and
Development requests that a breach be authorized to submit this resolution and bill after
the August 3, 2018 submission deadline, and to waive it from the Finance Committee in
order to be placed on the August 22, 2018 Council agenda. They also request that the
five-day hold for reconsideration period be waived in order to further expedite this
resolution and bill. If there are any questions, please do not hesitate to call Ron
Whitmore of the Department of Research and Development at 961-8003.
