Your Committee on Planning, to which was referred Communication No. 1000, reports as
follows:
Communication No. 1000, transmitted by Mayor Harry Kim, dated July 19, 2018, nominates
Ms. Springer Kaye to the Hawai`i County Board of Appeals.
Ms. Kaye has been a resident of Hawai`i for 15 years and states that she is affiliated with the
democratic party. If confirmed, she will serve a vacant term ending December'31, 2022.
Ms. Rose Bautista, Executive Assistant to Mayor Kim introduced the nominee who appeared in
person. Chair Eoff commented that she would be an asset to this board. The vote was thentaken
with all Council Members voting"aye." Chair Eoff informed Ms. Kaye that she did not need to
appear at the next Council meeting for confirmation of her appointment.
Pursuant to Section 6-9.2 of the Hawaii County Charter, members of the Board of Appeals shall
be appointed by the Mayor and confirmed by the Council.
Your Committee on Planning is in accord with the purpose and intent of Communication
No. 1000, and recommends confirmation of the appointment of Springer Kaye to the Hawai`i
County Board of Appeals.
