Dear Chairwoman Poindexter and Council Members:
It is my pleasure to nominate Chris Cackley to the North Kohala Community
Development Plan Action Committee. Mr. Cackley is a former employee of the County
of Hawai'i where he worked for 27 years and retired as Director of Recreation in 2013.
He also worked as a substitute teacher at Kohala High Elementary school.
As an active member of his community, Mr. Cackley volunteered his time to various
community projects and organizations. He was a boardmember of the Kohala
Community Athletic Association, Kohala International Center, Kohala Natural Healing
and several others. He also spent many years coaching various sports at the high
school and community after-school sports programs.
Originally from South Bend, Indiana, Mr. Cackley has resided in Hawai'i for
approximately 33 years. He holds a Bachelor's degree in Political Science from the
University of Pittsburg and is a lifelong learner.
Mr. Cackley is not a member any political party. If confirmed, he will serve a term to
expire September 30, 2021.
