N,�, <br /> COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII <br /> ,F OF MO' <br /> RESOLUTION NO. 671 18 <br /> A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT <br /> AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A <br /> DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE WEST HAWAII <br /> VETERANS CEMETERY DEVELOPMENT AND EXPANSION ASSOCIATION, INC., <br /> TO PURCHASE A MEMORIAL STONE FOR THE SCATTERING GARDEN AT THE <br /> WEST HAWAII VETERANS CEMETERY-PU`U HO`OMAHA 0 NA POT KOA 0 <br /> HAWAII KOMOHANA. <br /> WHEREAS,the West Hawai`i Veterans Cemetery Development and Expansion <br /> Association, Inc., (WHVCDEA) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization consisting of veteran <br /> organizations, individual veterans, and citizens that have organized and facilitated countless <br /> projects at the County's West Hawai`i Veterans Cemetery-Pu`u Ho`omaha 0 Na Po`e Koa 0 <br /> Hawai`i Komohana(WHVC) in honor of our veterans; and <br /> WHEREAS,there is a Scattering Garden at the WHVC where families can gather in a <br /> peaceful resting place and scatter the ashes of their loved ones; and <br /> WHEREAS, WHVCDEA is requesting funds to purchase a memorial stone containing <br /> individual name plates that identify, memorialize, and honor armed service personnel and their <br /> families wishing to have their loved ones ashes scattered in the Scattering Garden at WHVC; and <br /> WHEREAS, the Veterans Administration (VA) designated WHVC as one of only three <br /> State-owned veterans' cemeteries in the nation to have received the honor"Shrine Status"; and <br /> WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code, <br /> Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via <br /> resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, <br /> activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, <br /> therefore, <br /> BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that <br /> Contingency Relief funds from Council District 6 will be appropriated to the Department of <br /> Parks and Recreation to provide a grant to WHVCDEA to purchase a memorial stone for the <br /> Scattering Garden at WHVC. <br />
