RESOLUTION NO. 672 : 18
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO KAT RURAL
HEALTH COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION, INC., FOR THE 8TH ANNUAL FLOATING
LANTERN CELEBRATION.
WHEREAS, Ka`u Rural Health Community Association, Inc., is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit
organization that supports and promotes community empowerment through education and
economic development opportunities; and
WHEREAS, for the past seven years, Kali.Rural Health Community Association, Inc.,
has hosted the Floating Lantern Celebration at the Punalu`u Black Sand Beach Park, which
brings together individuals, families, and communities to honor and pay tribute to their loved
ones who have passed away; and
WHEREAS, Ka`u Rural Health Community Association, Inc., is requesting funds for
tents, tables, chairs a PA system, taiko drummers, a hula halau, musicians, and banners for the Stn
Annual Floating Lantern Celebration on November 24, 2018; and
WHEREAS,the Department of Liquor Control supports organizations that provide drug-
free and alcohol-free events for the community; and
WHEREAS,pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from the Council District 6 will be appropriated to the Department of
Liquor Control to provide a grant to Ka`u Rural Health Community Association, Inc., for the Stn
Annual Floating Lantern Celebration.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Director of Liquor Control and Director of Finance, and that the Director of
Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
