RESOLUTION NO. '9 18

RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF A DONATION OF
TWO (2) BUSES FROM THE MAUI COUNTY DEPARTMENT OF
TRANSPORTATION
WHEREAS, the Maui County Department of Transportation is donating two (2)
retired buses to the County of Hawai'i's Mass Transit Agency; and
WHEREAS, the buses will be used to provide island-wide public transportation;
and
WHEREAS, Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawaii County Charter provides
that the Council, on behalf of the County, may accept gifts of donations of money,
securities or other personal property or of real estate or any interest in real estate, and
Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162 (a) of the Hawaii County Code states that any gifts
or donations of money, securities, or personal property which fall within the
capitalization procedures of the Department of Finance, may be accepted by resolution
approved by the Council; and
WHEREAS, the County of Hawai`i's Mass Transit Agency recommends the
acceptance of this donation; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that in
accordance with Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawaii County Charter, and Chapter
2, Article 30, Section 2-162(a) of the Hawaii County Code, the Council of the County of
Hawaii accepts this donation.
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that a letter of appreciation and a copy of this
resolution be sent Don Medeiros, Director, Maui County Department of Transportation,
2145 Kaohu Street, Room 102, Wailuku, Hawaii 96793
