RESOLUTION NO. 684 18
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE FRIENDS OF
THE FUTURE TO SUPPORT THE 2018 HAWAII ISLAND WOMEN'S LEADERSHIP
SUMMIT.
WHEREAS, the Friends of the Future (FOF) is a local 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization
whose vision is based on sustained conversations and mutual respect for diversity to bring about
shared understanding and consensus; and
WHEREAS, FOF is collaborating with the Hawai`i Island Women's Leadership Forum
to help organize the 2018 Hawai`i Island Women's Leadership Summit; and
WHEREAS, the 2018 Hawai`i Island Women's Leadership Summit, featuring a keynote
speaker, panel discussions, and interactive workshops, will be held on October 19, 2018, at the
Sheraton Kona Resort & Spa at Keauhou Bay from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m.; and
WHEREAS, the summit will help advance and celebrate the value of women in our
society, cultivate relationships for networking, and move the conversation forward to develop
women leaders locally; and
WHEREAS, FOF is requesting funds for speaker fees and facility rental for the 2018
Hawai`i Island Women's Leadership Summit; and
WHEREAS, one of the program objectives of the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney's
Committee on the Status of Women is to support the Hawai`i Island Women's Leadership
Summit; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawai`i County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 1 will be appropriated to the Office of the
Prosecuting Attorney to provide a grant to the Friends of the Future for the 2018 Hawai`i Island
Women's Leadership Summit.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawai`i hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Prosecuting Attorney and Director of Finance, and that the Director of Finance
is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
