My name is Tommy Goya. I support Bill #159 and humbly ask that you o
vote in favor of the increase in General Excise Tax by one quarter of one
percent. I had previously planned to offer oral testimony on this
important matter but elected to yield the time for public testimony to
those that need to articulate their positions at this hearing.
In this time of great concern for all of the people who live and love our
Big Island, we need to rally together. We are blessed to live, work and
play in one of the best places in the world. Our love and aloha is
genuine. We must keep our hopes and dreams alive.
It is not a time to reduce or limit government services. It is also not a
time to increase property taxes. As elected officials, you understand
that there are also realities of raising any taxes. As a community, we are
looking to you to be positive and decisive in your leadership roles.
Mahalo for your thoughtful review of the County Budget proposal and
the time you have given to accommodate citizen input.
