Aloha,
My name is Lee McIntosh.I run a landscaping business in Kau.Please do not pass Bill 159,which will increase the
GET on the Big Island.The County should not panic in regards to the recent lava destruction and should wait
patiently until they have real numbers,not estimates,before making any financial decisions.The GET will affect
everyone that does business or buys something on the Big Island.The amount of GET that tourists pay is actually
less than 14%,not 30%.Do not allow the Mayor's Office to influence your decision by employing the Washington
Monument principle.That is where cuts are most noticeable and services will be missed the most in order to
provoke support.I urge the Council to wait and weigh their options rather than rush forward with a GET increase
based on a deadline from the Legislature. I thank the Council for this opportunity to share my concerns regarding
Bill 159.
