Additional federally-derived funds in the amount of $34,340 is being provided by the State of Hawai`i Department of Transportation Public Affairs– Safe Community Program to be used to increase the number of officers trained in advanced traffic accident reconstruction and other traffic-crash related courses. Enclosed is a bill for an ordinance amending the Operating Budget by appropriating these additional funds into the Hawai`i County Police Department's HCPD Traffic Investigation Program account,bringing the total appropriation to $105,840. The Police Department is requesting that this bill be waived from the Finance Committee and be placed on the October 3, 2018 Council agenda in order to expedite the receipt of these funds.
