RESOLUTION NO. 700 18
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF A DONATION OF
RESPIRATOR MASKS TO THE COUNTY OF HAWAII
WHEREAS, 3M Hawai`i donated 98,000 respirator masks to the County of
Hawaii; and
WHEREAS, the masks were distributed to the Puna, Ka`u and Hilo districts to
help ensure the health and safety of those affected by volcanic ash emitted during the
recent Kilauea eruption; and
WHEREAS, Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawai`i County Charter provides
that the Council, on behalf of the County, may accept gifts of donations of money,
securities or other personal property or of real estate or any interest in real estate, and
Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162 (a) of the Hawaii County Code states that any gifts
or donations of money, securities, or personal property which fall within the
capitalization procedures of the Department of Finance, may be accepted by resolution
approved by the Council; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Research and Development recommends the
acceptance of this donation; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that in
accordance with Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawaii County Charter, and Chapter
2, Article 30, Section 2-162(a) of the Hawaii County Code, the Council of the County of
Hawaii accepts this donation.

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that a letter of appreciation and a copy of this
resolution be sent to Bob Barker and Derek Hilford, 3M Personal Safety Division, 3M
Hawaii, 4443 Malaai Street, Honolulu, Hawaii 96818.
