RESOLUTION NO. r 7O1 18
RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING THE ACCEPTANCE OF A DONATION OF
RESPIRATOR MASKS TO THE COUNTY OF HAWAII
WHEREAS, Stanley B. Palms of Bucoda, Washington donated 150 HDX N95
respirator masks and 120 3M brand particulate respirator masks to the County of
Hawaii in memory of Florence Keuapuni Naeole; and
WHEREAS, the masks were distributed to the Puna community to help ensure
the health and safety of those affected by volcanic ash emitted during the recent
Kilauea eruption; and
WHEREAS, Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawaii County Charter provides
that the Council, on behalf of the County, may accept gifts of donations of money,
securities or other personal property or of real estate or any interest in real estate, and
Chapter 2, Article 30, Section 2-162 (a) of the Hawaii County Code states that any gifts
or donations of money, securities, or personal property which fall within the
capitalization procedures of the Department of Finance, may be accepted by resolution
approved by the Council; and
WHEREAS, the Department of Research and Development recommends the
acceptance of this donation; now, therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that in
accordance with Article XIII, Section 13-12, of the Hawaii County Charter, and Chapter
2, Article 30, Section 2-162(a) of the Hawaii County Code, the Council of the County of
Hawaii accepts this donation.
BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that a letter of appreciation and a copy of this
resolution be sent Stanley B. Palms, P.O. Box 189, Bucoda, WA 98530.
