Funds would be used to collect, propagate, and evaluate several native and endemic Hawaiian plants for potential uses in floriculture and nursery industries. Funds would be used to conduct training with beef and swine producers on artificial insemination techniques, record keeping, basic herd management, and preparation of publication material. Funds would be used to release new taro hybrids, educate producers and the public about the new varieties and their cultivation, and to educate producers on the taro breeding process. Funds would be used to conduct training on four grafting techniques with macadamia nut, avocado, and cacao producers. Funds would be used for retrofitting hurricane shelters and key County facilities, providing upgrades to the emergency operations center, to continue coordination and collaboration with the island's community, and to provide Community Emergency Response Team training.
