COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII RESOLUTION NO. `703 :18 A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO FRIENDS OF THE FUTURE FOR THE 2018 HAWAII ISLAND WOMEN'S LEADERSHIP SUMMIT. WHEREAS, the Hawaii Island Women's Leadership Forum helps to cultivate women leaders locally and celebrate the value of women in our society; and WHEREAS, the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney oversees the Committee on the Status of Women, and one of the goals of this Committee is to promote women's participation in public and private sectors; and WHEREAS, Friends of the Future is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose vision is based on sustained conversations and mutual respect for diversity to bring about shared understanding and consensus; and WHEREAS, Friends of the Future is collaborating with the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney along with the Hawaii Island Women's Leadership Forum to help organize the 2018 Hawaii Island Women's Leadership Summit; and WHEREAS, the 2018 Hawaii Island Women's Leadership Summit will be held on October 19, 2018, at the Sheraton Kona Resort and Spa at Keauhou Bay, and the purpose is to strengthen women by providing real tools for real life, thereby empowering and advancing themselves, their relationships, their careers, and their community; and WHEREAS, Friends of the Future is requesting funds to assist with registration fees to make it affordable to a wide range of women, thereby allowing maximum participation at the 2018 Hawaii island Women's Leadership Summit; and - WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 8 will be appropriated to the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney to provide a grant to the Friends of the Future to assist with expenses associated with the 2018 Hawaii Island Women's Leadership Summit. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:
