RESOLUTION NO. 717- :.8
A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO FRIENDS OF THE
FUTURE TO ASSIST WITH EXPENSES RELATED TO THE 2018 HAWAII ISLAND
WOMEN'S LEADERSHIP SUMMIT.
WHEREAS, Friends of the Future is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that supports
small businesses and community initiatives that enhance education, perpetuate culture, and build
community capacity; and
WHEREAS, the mission of the Hawaii Island Women's Leadership Summit is to
empower and advance women on Hawaii Island through knowledge, strength, and community;
and
WHEREAS, the theme for the 2018 Hawaii Island Women's Leadership Summit is
"Courage to Dream: Rise to the Challenge," and the event will be held on October 19, 2018, at
the Sheraton Kona Resort and Spa at Keauhou Bay; and
WHEREAS, Friends of the Future is assisting with the event planning and is requesting
funds for costs related to the summit, including facility rental fees, hosting speakers, and
conference materials and supplies; and
WHEREAS, the Office of the Prosecuting Attorney supports the Committee on the
Status of Women and other community initiatives that promote and improve the status and
wellbeing of women; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 9 will be appropriated to the Office of the
Prosecuting Attorney to provide a grant to Friends of the Future to assist with expenses relating
to the 2018 Hawaii Island Women's Leadership Summit.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this
resolution to the Prosecuting Attorney and Director of Finance, and that the Director of Finance
is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this
resolution.
