HomeMy WebLinkAboutRES 719 Draft 01 2016-2018COUNTY OF HAWAII STATE OF HAWAII RESOLUTION NO. 719 IS A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO THE ANEKONA OULI KANEHOA VFD COMPANY FOR EXPENSES ASSOCIATED WITH THE FINAL PHASE OF THE CONSTRUCTION OF A GARAGE FOR THE 9 -BRAVO VOLUNTEER FIRE COMPANY IN WAIKOLOA. WHEREAS, Anekona Ouli Kanehoa VFD Company (AOK) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that represents the volunteer firefighters who provide critical support to the Hawaii Fire Department when responding to emergencies; and WHEREAS, AOK supports 9 -Bravo, a volunteer fire company located in Waikoloa that is trained and certified to assist the Hawaii Fire Department during emergencies; and WHEREAS, 9 -Bravo is in need of a garage for the storage of firefighting equipment, vehicles, and fire -related supplies; and WHEREAS, AOK is requesting funds to be used toward the final phase of construction of a 2,000 -square -foot garage for the 9 -Bravo volunteer fire company located in Waikoloa; and WHEREAS, the Hawaii Fire Department provides programs and activities that promote the safety, health, and quality of life of residents, and it strongly supports the volunteer fire companies that help to provide quick and efficient responses to fire emergencies; and WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code, Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event, activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now, therefore, BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that Contingency Relief funds from Council District 9 will be appropriated to the Hawaii Fire Department to provide a grant to Anekona Ouli Kanehoa VFD Company for expenses associated with the final phase of the construction of a 2,000 -square -foot garage for the 9 -Bravo volunteer fire company in Waikoloa. BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below: FUND: General AMOUNT OF APPROPRIATION: $5,000 OUT AND FROM: 010.101.5101.91 Clerk -Council SVC — Contingency Relief CREDITED TO: $5,000 010.221.5226.02 Hawaii Fire Department $5,000 Training and Volunteer Fire OCE 115 Misc. Contract Services (Anekona Ouli Kanehoa VFD Company — Garage Construction) BE IT FINALLY RESOLVED that the County Clerk shall transmit a copy of this resolution to the Fire Chief and Director of Finance, and that the Director of Finance is hereby authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this resolution.
