A RESOLUTION TRANSFERRING/APPROPRIATING AN APPROPRIATION OUT
AND FROM A DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT AND CREDITING SAME TO A
DESIGNATED FUND ACCOUNT TO PROVIDE A GRANT TO ANEKONA OULI
KANEHOA VFD COMPANY TO COMPLETE CONSTRUCTION OF A GARAGE FOR
VOLUNTEER FIRE COMPANY, 9 -BRAVO.
WHEREAS, Anekona Ouli Kanehoa VFD Company (AOK) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit
organization that represents the volunteer firefighters who provide critical support to the Hawaii
Fire Department when responding to emergencies; and
WHEREAS, AOK supports 9 -Bravo, a volunteer fire company located in Anekona,
Kawaihae, that is trained and certified to assist the Hawaii Fire Department during emergencies,
primarily serving the areas of Waimea, Saddle Road, Kawaihae Road, Kawaihae Village, and
North Kona; and
WHEREAS, AOK is requesting funds for material to complete construction of a 2,000
square foot garage for 9 -Bravo's equipment and vehicles, which are currently being stored at the
homes of volunteer firefighters; and
WHEREAS, pursuant to Section 2-139(a)(2)(A) of the Hawaii County Code,
Contingency Relief funds shall be transferred to an accepting County department/agency via
resolution identifying the nonprofit organization and the specific program, project, event,
activity, service, equipment, materials, or supplies for which the grant shall be used; now,
therefore,
BE IT RESOLVED BY THE COUNCIL OF THE COUNTY OF HAWAII that
Contingency Relief funds from Council District 8 will be appropriated to the Hawaii Fire
Department to provide a grant to Anekona Ouli Kanehoa VFD Company for material to
complete construction of a garage for 9 -Bravo's equipment and -vehicles.
BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED that the Council of the County of Hawaii hereby
transfers/appropriates the following amount as set forth below:

authorized to make the necessary transfers in accordance with the terms of this resolution.
