"Tim" Richards III, Council Member Council District 9 -North and South Kohala SUBJECT: Proposed Amendment to Resolution No. 728-18; A Resolution urging the Hawai`i Congressional Delegation and the United States Department of Agriculture Farm Service Agency to work collectively to lift the cap on the Noninsured Crop Disaster Assistance Program due to the catastrophic circumstances faced by the Hawai`i Island Agriculture Industry. Please see below proposed amendments to Resolution No. 728-18, relating to lifting the cap on the Noninsured Crop Disaster Assistance Program. The proposed amendments are shown in Ramseyer format with respect to the contents of Resolution No. 728-18; material to be deleted is bracketed and stricken and material to be added is underscored. 1. The eight WHEREAS clause is amended to read as follows: ["WHEREAS, the Hawaii County Council is encouraged by and appreciates the level of as well as our State legislators and Congressional delegations, to work collaboratively to assist Hawai`i Island, and stands ready as a partner to work collectively to lift the cap on the Noninsured Crop Disaster Assistance Program to rebuild our island's agricultural industry; now, therefore,"] "WHEREAS, the Hawai`i County Council is appreciative of our Hawai`i federal delegation, including Senators Mazie Hirono and Brian Schatz, and Representatives Tulsi Gabbard, and Colleen Hanabusa, who have worked diligently to support our local farmers and ranchers, and who have had previous discussions in lifting the cap on the Noninsured Disaster Assistance Program through Senator Mazie Hirono's lead. We are encouraged that they will again stand ready to partner to work collectively to lift the cap on the Noninsured Disaster Assistance Program to rebuild our island's agriculture industry; now therefore," Comm.
